Kerri – Umpire supply coordinator

I have played netball since school, through college and into adulthood. I set up a netball team in 2007 and proudly captained the Sirens that continues to this day. Unfortunately an injury at work meant I had to give up playing the sport I loved, but I have been fortunate to have been able to put my passion of the sport into coaching and got my Level 1 and then my level 2 coaching qualification in 2012. I have been a coach at Recycles netball club in Shrewsbury since then and have gone through the age groups with my daughter who has represented both Shropshire County and club at West Midlands regional level.
I love the sport and even though my injury stopped me physically playing, it enables me to coach and nurture the promising athletes that come through our county.
It’s not just what you can give physically but what you can bring as an individual to a team sport, and whilst my roles are more admin these days, I get to still promote the sport I love.
I am extremely fortunate to work alongside passionate like minded individuals on the Shropshire Netball committee and we all share the common goal and drive to see our athletes develop as players, officiating as umpires, or developing as coaches.
My current role is Umpire supply coordinator, where I link in with our valuable umpires to arrange officiating support at various competitions throughout the season. Without our umpires we simply couldn’t run. It’s great to see the progress our umpires make along the officiating journey.
